Introduction

Hello all you beautiful commanders of words, today post will focus on inspiration. I am a believer of whatever you put out in the cosmos it comes back to you ten folds. If you display bad habit of putting people down that negative vibe will rebound back to you ten times. The goal is to be kind. We’re human and nothing about us is perfect with that being said my inspiration for this piece comes from an unlikely source.

Chit-Chat

I actually had a different idea for today’s blog post. That post I didn’t finish because frankly the idea is good but the execution no bueno. When I woke up this AM, Google who I renamed Gene turns on SiriusXM The Howard Stern Show. Today’s guest is Nick Cannon former host of “America Got Talent” AGT. In this interview, I notice a different Howard interview where Howard is engaging but it’s more like big brother concern as opposed to friends just chit-chatting. There’s a lot of chatter about Nick’s life and what he’s up to and let me say Nick Cannon in my opinion is the hardest working cat in tinsel town.

Hardest Working Turban In Tinsel Town

imagesNick Cannon mention that he’s starting a new talk show which he’s the producer, creator and writer. He tells Howard that he wants to be like Howard “king of all media”. Nick goes on to say that his two inspiration is Oprah and Howard, unlikely inspiration. Nick said he has turned to king of all media for advice about leaving the hit show AGT and taking on other various projects. It’s this advice Nick took to heart which lead him to leave AGT, focusing on new project like “The Masked Singer” and his number one radio show here in Los Angeles and family life. Nick credits Howard for inspiring him to fly high and is grateful that Howard has taken such interest in mentoring him.

Wild N’ Out (2018 – current)

A Fella Named Slick

2inJfMOZ_400x400Nick Cannon isn’t the only person who is inspired by Howard, but it’s Howard’s fans who turn to the king for life advice. A fan called in expression his love for the Joe Namath interview and how that sit down interview inspired him to clean up his act. It was after the interview and reading Joe’s book, this fan sought help. Going into rehab and getting clean this fan is clean for six months credit the king of all media advice in that interview for saving his life. The interesting thing about that sit down, is that Joe admitted he’s an alcoholic which is well known but that he named his addiction “Slick”. Joe goes on to say bringing an human element, he felt more responsible for his actions. It’s easier for him to talk about Slick as opposed to alcoholism. This approach is less alarming and breaks down judgement. Both Howard and Joe admits to seeking therapy. In therapy the tools used is self-help, music, humanizing disorder or addiction which allows for taking responsibility and most importantly learning how to be comfortable with the reflection in the mirror.

Band Of Misfits

ehhzbu6tli921The way Howard connection with his fans is incredible. Though sharing his life experiences as someone struggling with a disorder, is refreshing. Not only Howard who struggle with mental disorder his staffers often share their story of struggle. Co-host Robin Quivers shared her story of a abusive childhood as her mother stood by while her father abused her with little no resistance. Show producer Gary Dell’Abate share stories of growing up with his mother struggling with depression and a brother struggling with AIDs leading to his death. Show impressionist and voice over artist Fred Norris speak about his struggles with depression. Each staffer having their own battle with mental health. Howard calls his dysfunctional work family “Band of Misfits”.

The Obsessive Compulsive Shock Jock To Elder Statesman

21a2747b7244478980cb0de32ef48025-master675“There’s nothing better than having control over your own body” Howard says to Josh a fan struggling with food addition calling in for advice. Both Howard and Robin encourage the caller go to therapy and get to the root of what causing this bad behavior. “Don’t be a victim to addiction” says to caller Josh as a vowel of encourage to get Josh to face his addiction. “Stop eating fast foods and start cooking at home using healthy ingredients” Howard continues gives advice. Yes, Howard is a little harsh a little tough but it’s genuine, honest and coming from a place of concern. Struggling with Obsessive Compulsive disorder and depression himself, encouraged by his parents Howard turned to therapy and a type of meditation transcendental meditation.

There’s nothing wrong to admit there’s something wrong.
There’s nothing wrong going to therapy.
Why be a victim to addiction when you can manage the symptoms?

The Unlikely Inspirer

51419-howard-stern-robin-williams-mainMost people wouldn’t think of Howard in any other way other than disgusting bear. A shock jock who continues to thumb his nose at society. A madman who has not regrets but on the contrary Howard has regrets. In fact this is reflected in his best selling book “Howard Stern Comes Again”. One particular moment in the book that Howard regrets is the interview with late Robin Williams. Howard writes he regrets not paying attention to Robin during his 90’s interview with the star only focusing on the breakdown and break up with his marriage and the affair with the nanny. Then Howard felt something was wrong but choose to make the listener happy by sticking it to Robin.

🍸🍸🍸

Gone is the angry bold as brass in your face shock jock. Now an elder statesman with lots of wisdom to offer. I don’t know if it’s his divorce from first wife or discovering love a second time around or Robin’s battle with cancer or facing his own immortality with his recent cancer scare that prompt this turnabout. Howard is a man who have overcome a lot. Howard and crew has in a sense raised a generation of outcast, misfits who didn’t know their self-worth or where they belong. As a listener of thirty plus years and a outcast, The Stern Show gave me courage to be me.

Until next time…..

  1. Write more, thats all I have to say. Literally, it seems as though you relied on the video to make your point. You clearly know what youre talking about, why throw away your intelligence on just posting videos to your blog when you could be giving us something enlightening to read?

  2. Usually I do not learn article on blogs, however I wish to say that this write-up very pressured me to take a look at and do so! Your writing style has been surprised me. Thank you, quite nice article.
