Sitting here staring at a face I vaguely recognize. Every line, every crack tells a story of a life long lived. The story started with a young vibrant soul searching deep down looking for that light. Kee-a-boo I see you, I’m hiding a surprise. Putting my hands over my face then popping them out all over the place. Gracefully I sit on dad lap playing my favorite game of cat-and-mouse. Daddy likes to put one hand over his eyes I guess it makes sense his hands are big like a slices of apple pie. Mommy hands are smaller so she uses both to cover her eyes no cheating, no peeking or you’ll see the surprise.

Each speck tells a story frozen in time. If you can read them you will see a picture emerge, of a life span of love, loss, fight. With every grain detailing the life of the dust that danced on the wind before hitting this windshield. Just like every line that runs across a face.

Hello all you masters of words, today’s post is inspired by writing prompt WordsNQuotes Writing Prompt #70. Writing prompts are a great way to get over the hump of writers block as well as giving focus. Sometime its fun not to put too much thought in creating a subject to write about as a pose to having the idea ready for you to build upon. Either way, your creativity is allowed to run wild. If you haven’t try using writing prompts I encourage you to do so.
This writing prompt tells the story of a person waking up to find the world coming to an end. I present “Do You Need More Time”.
Awoke to the sounds of people screams down on the street. In curiosity I rush to my feet get dress and let my nosiness take over. Running down 7 flights of stairs 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 ,1 or something like that. Down on the street, I’m greeted by the chaos. People running around like chicken with their heads cut off. Looking over to my left I see my neighbor Kyle standing still looking up at the sky which is partly bright blue and partly fiery red. Kyle who just turned 40, points towards the sky asking “do you see it?” Looking upwards me responding with just a simple head shake YES in disbelief.
GREAT BALLS OF FIRE
As this great balls of red flames approaches, I can’t help but to think about how I wish I was immortal because I’m not ready to leave there’s so much left to do. Then an odd thing happen just as I was reminiscing on my life Prince 1999 verse just popped into my head you know the beginning verse “But when I woke up this mornin’, could’ve sworn it was judgment day The sky was all purple, there were people running’ everywhere Trying to run from the destruction, you know I didn’t even care.” Then I thought “oh wow no more Voltron”. Weird how you think about dumb things. My instincts to flee all but disappeared, I like my neighbor just stood there still watching our doom. Honestly under these circumstances go where?
MY PENDING DOOM
Now that I am aware of my pending doom, I decided to continue my day as I always have. I went back into my apartment, made a cup of coffee thanks to my Keurig “oh no more coffee”. Turned on my google play music “bye bye music”, cranked up my favorite playlist that consist of Def Leppard, Franz Ferdinand, Foo Fighters, Goo Goo Dolls, Midnight Oil, The Killers and Keane. My playlist blares in the background looking down at my phone not paying any attention to the hundreds of text message notifications I see there’s a timer on my phone. Tick, tick, ticking by the second. The digital clock moves ever so slowly which draws my intense focus. It’s a doom counter clock provided by google earth. Huh now that’s interesting a death clock. It hit me everything I love and cherish will be gone in about 10 mins.
I opened my laptop and craft a beautiful email to send to all my loved ones. Now my fear has left and my will has taken over and I refuse to spend my last minutes this way. After sending my emails I decided to jot down my thoughts why? I don’t know why. I guess to keep focus on something other then my death. When your in a panic you kinda of lose track of things.
Hells bells the comet is 3 mins away!
The end is near, I got just one precious minute to bang out this last thought and here it is “Dammit Man I just bought tickets to Def Leppard concert!”

Autumn leaves are falling stripping the trees bare. There’s a crisp breeze dancing in the air. The smells of pumpkin spice and everything nice is everywhere. You and I sit on the porch welcoming the Autumn dawn. It’s that time of year again when I think of you most. Red, brown and yellow leaves falling around us and you holding me in your arms like a warm blanket on this Autumn day. Squeezing tighter and tighter, I can feel your heartbeat against my back. I can feel your warm breath on my neck, submerged in your embrace knowing that no one will ever love me in this way.
All I can think about is how beautiful you are. Your smile, your laughter, the joy in your voice, your smell, as I breathe you in, this moment is overwhelming like an arrow piercing to the heart as we sit watching the morning sky say “hello”. No words to be exchanged no words needed between us. Just you, me and Autumn morning breeze whispering to the world those three words “I Love You”. Then Winter came and took you away. That bitter cold winter’s day has left me heartbroken crying with little to say. Gray fills my days and dark fills my nights for only in my dreams do I see your light. I am forever trapped in my sadness, living among the living in this coldest of cold space. Gone are the beautiful colors of Autumn. Gone are the beautiful colors of you. All that is left now are gray noise. I’m left here in this empty cold space longing for your embrace. Oh how I miss that Autumn day.
A Mother’s Love is truly unconditional. Remember this one thing to tell the one you love “I LOVE YOU” & show it.
