Introduction:
Concerts have the power to transform, leaving us feeling alive, awake, and renewed. Each experience is unique, creating an emotional connection when our favorite artists sing our favorite songs. Today’s blog post is inspired by the profound impact of concerts on our lives. I have a deep appreciation for music of all types, but my preferred genres include hard rock, soft rock, classic rock, alternative, Christmas music, jazz, and show tunes. Watching live performances by artists like Def Leppard, Franz Ferdinand, KT Tunstall, Colin Hay, Tina Turner, Anita Baker, Cher, Curtis Stigers , Flock of Seagulls and The Cars is an absolute joy. While some of these artists are no longer with us, their prime performances were nothing short of spectacular.
Def Leppard; holds a special place in my heart as my favorite band. I never miss a chance to see them live, and I’ve had the privilege of attending their concerts over 220 times and counting. What makes them so special? It’s simple: their music. Songs like “Hysteria” and “Love Bites” speak to the universal longing for love, making them relatable and deeply resonant. Another fan favorite, “Two Steps Behind,” holds a personal significance for me. The lyrics evoke memories of my mother, who has passed away. Every time I hear the line, “I’ll be two steps behind,” it feels as though my mother is standing beside me, singing those words. As the youngest child and grandchild, I always felt like I was running, never wanting to slow down. Attending a Def Leppard concert is an experience of unity, love, and light.
Franz Ferdinand; falling under the alternative category, has a unique sound that is instantly recognizable. Songs like “I’m Your Villain” capture the essence of dealing with bullies who don’t care to understand you or simply dislike you for existing. On the other hand, “Feel The Love Go” teaches us the power of wishing love and compassion even for our enemies. This song has taught me the importance of forgiveness. When performed live, the impact is amplified, provoking deep thoughts and fostering compassion for those who may not realize the extent of their ability to hurt others.
KT Tunstall; is another artist who captivates with her music and unique personality. Her song “Other Side Of The World” tells a beautiful love story of a couple living on different coasts, trying to make their relationship work. However, for me, this song holds a different meaning. The lyrics, “You’re the other side of the world to me,” resonate with my relationship with my mother. She was a beautiful and complicated soul whom I couldn’t always understand, especially while dealing with my own issues. When KT performs this classic live, her angelic voice leaves me weak in the knees, craving more. Another moving song of hers is “Dear Shadow,” which speaks to my experience with bipolar disorder. The lyrics capture the feeling of wanting to run from the darkness and start anew. When KT performs this song live, it feels as though she delves into my mind, articulating the madness within. Her voice becomes my voice.
Conclusion; Concerts are not just about the music; they create a sense of community. Laughing, crying, and sharing a one-of-a-kind experience with fellow concert-goers make us feel seen and heard. In that moment, everyone is equal, everyone is in love. This is why I love going to concerts. It’s an experience that leaves us feeling alive, and who knows, it might even make us better individuals. Concerts have the power to transform us. They evoke a range of emotions, leaving us feeling alive and renewed. The impact of live performances by our favorite artists is immeasurable. It’s an experience that connects us, transcending boundaries and fostering a sense of unity and love. So, let’s celebrate the magic of concerts and cherish the memories they create.
